WHAT IS THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE?

What are we?

Contrary to what some may believe, we are not a bunch of old veterans sitting at a bar, drinking, and telling war stories. We aren’t just a bunch of “Old Timers” with nothing better to do.

So, what are we then?

We are Marines, FMF Navy Corpsmen and Chaplain who want to continue the camaraderie and esprit de corps that we all shared while we were on active duty.

We want to help our fellow brothers and sisters as we navigate benefits, needs, or simply have someone who can relate.

We all have families. Many of us may have adult kids and grandchildren. Some of us still have young children living at home. We all have commitments outside of the Marine Corps League. Some of us still have full-time jobs, while others may be retired and have a part-time job. Others may volunteer full time, while others may hit the golf course on a regular basis.

But our joint mission or goals are to support, assist and help our fellow veterans and their families while we serve our communities.

The Marine Corps League was founded in 1923 by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, then Major General John A. Lejeune. On August 4, 1937, The U.S. Congress Congressionally Chartered the organization as a Veterans Service Organization.

The Mission of the Marine Corps League is to promoted the interests and to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of the Marines and their families; serve Marines and FMF Navy Personnel who wear or who have worn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor; and foster ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism.

Active, reserve, retired, and veteran Marines continue the faithful tradition of looking out for the Marines to their left and right. Providing mentorship, career counseling, Veteran Service Officers, VA support, assisting with transition, and providing opportunities for family.
